With years of research and a commitment to fostering cross-cultural awareness, she has created an engaging and informative debut book that brings the beauty and diversity of Ghana to young readers.

In her spare time, Serwa enjoys travelling and immersing herself in African art, fashion and cuisine, further fuelling her passion for the subject matter of her book.

Currently, she continues to promote cultural understanding through her writing and educational initiatives.

Serwa Smith believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn about and appreciate the richness of African culture, and “The African Explorers” is a testament to her dedication to that cause.

Specialising in digital art has allowed me to explore boundless creative possibilities. It’s like having a universe of colors, shapes, and textures at my fingertips. But more importantly, it’s enabled me to join the journey of increasing representation.

My heart lies in the realm of black art. I’m deeply committed to broadening the scope of representation, ensuring that more people can see themselves in the stories I tell through my illustrations. It’s about capturing the nuances of identity, culture, and diversity in a visual form.
